Basically there was no guarantee that we'd even be out by 2013 (the end of the first term). There are simply no guarantees in war and if the administration had realized that before we went in, maybe they would have planned better.
There are also 25,000 detainees in military custody in Iraq, so at this point, the country will run out of men by next week.
General Robert Gates has asked Congress to give him another $190 billion for the war in 2008; $42 billion more than original asked for. This will bring likely bring us over the Trillion dollar mark considering we have spent more than $800 million on both Afghanistan & Iraq since 9/11.
