I'm sure the Left will accuse me of being Xenophobic, but I am concerned that the Dubai government is about to acquire 20% of of the Nasdaq. I continue to be concern when I hear that the London Stock Exchange is now 50% owned by Arab states; Qatar & Borse Dubai and that major American private equity firms like Blackstone and Carlyle have sold 10% or more of their stake to Abu Dhabi's government.
The American dollar is already suffering all over the world and a disruption of our economy would be an easy way to hurt America. For Pete's sake, as of today, the U.S. dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar and that is the 8th sign of the apocalypse. Seriously, do we want an Arab country to own such a huge amount of our second biggest stock exchange? We're doing enough damage to our own economy. What could someone who wants to hurt us do?
Yes, I know its unfair to demonize the entire country, of course I love Dubai's hotels and it seems as if Dubai & Qatar both enjoy living well too much to want to engage in economic terrorism, but I still think it's okay to be concerned about this.
