JENA 6 RALLY

9.19.2007

So we're surprised this happened in Jena, LA? I guess not considering...."African-Americans, who are a little more than a tenth of the town's nearly 3,000 people, still live mostly in the two areas that have always been the black sections of town. They worship separately from white churchgoers. When they die, they are buried in the black cemetery."

There weren't any civil rights marches in this town during the movement 40 years ago, but they're about to have a big one with an expected 40,000 people. The media has swarmed and you know there are many in this community that just don't see what the problem is. They've lived their whole lives by racial double standards and to them, there is probably no such thing as an injustice to blacks. I sincerely hope that there will be people of all races in Jena for this demonstration. The citizens of that town need to know that it isn't just black people who are outraged by this. Right is not black or white; it's just right.
