ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION UPDATE

As expected, tough illegal immigration laws are causing some illegals to go back to their countries, but most of them are likely just migrating to another state. MyFox Houston Illegal Immigrants Leaving Arizona, Oklahoma for Texas. I know I always argue state's rights, but on some issues, the federal government has to create a unified policies.

"Illegal immigrants are coming into Texas, but not from where one might think. The Oklahoma statute, which took effect in November, makes it a crime to transport, harbor or hire illegal immigrants. Effective Jan. 1, the Arizona law suspends the business license of employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers. On a second offense, the license is revoked."

In Arizona, Missouri and Oklahoma, the courts are supporting illegal immigration laws, giving hope to towns like Hazleton, PA, which was one of the first to enact tough illegal immigration laws only to be deemed illegal by the courts.In Reversal, Courts Uphold Local Immigration Laws - New York Times The recent federal decisions will probably give new encouragement to states and towns seeking to drive out illegal immigrants by making it difficult for them to find jobs or places to live.

The mayor of Danbury, CT says he is leading a compromise in the fight against illegal immigration by only taking action to oust illegal immigrants (of which his city has an estimated 10,000) who have committed crimes beyond just being here illegally. “The intention is to target criminal aliens,” the mayor said in an interview. “It’s not going to be the horrible thing the opponents think it’s going to be. On the other side, it’s not the sweeps and roundups the far right want it to be.”
