KENTUCKY

The NAACP is continuing its fight to give felons the right to vote in Kentucky focusing on these very bleak numbers. WBKO.com: 1 in 4 African-Americans in Kentucky Can't Vote

This startling statistic from the Kentucky League of Women means a fourth of African-Americans in the state of Kentucky will never be able to vote because of their status as convicted felons.

"It makes no sense because it defeats the purpose of our corrections system, which is to re-habilitate those who have committed crimes," said Governor Steve Beshear. That's a sentiment that local president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People agrees with.

I'm against ANYONE in prison having the right to vote. I'm also against giving rapists, child molesters (especially repeat offenders) and murderers a right to vote. Other ex-cons should get their rights back after their parole has been served. But I think the local NAACP would do better to spend their time trying to fight the problems that are putting so many blacks in prison so they can't vote instead of just making sure they can whether they're in prison or not.

LOUISIANA
Can you blame them? Many don't want to return to N.O. subsidized housing - USATODAY.com "Seven out of 10 public housing residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina want to return to the city, but only a third want to go back to subsidized homes, according to a study released Thursday." Honestly, who are these people who are willing to back to this stuff. The city can't afford them anyway.
