Replacing Our Only Black Senator

Now that Rahm Emanuel has been ruled out as the replacement for Obama's senatorial seat in Illinois, some are speculating it should be Jesse Jackson, Jr. (pictured here with his wife, Sandi, who is an Alderwoman). Some are suggesting it should be a black person because it seems kind of weird that we'll have a black president and no black senators. Should Obama's replacement be black? - Jesse Jackson is a pretty cool politician and he seems really smart, so I would support him becoming the Senator. He is more centrist than Obama. But I don't think they should do it just because he's black. I am hopeful that the euphoria around this election will allow greater opportunities for black men and women from both parties to get closer to Senate seats.
